In a letter to the state House of Assembly, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo state, asked for a supplemental budget.
At Wednesday’s plenary, the governor’s personally signed letter was read by the House Clerk, Alhaji Yahaya Omoigba.
Omoigba told the lawmakers that the letter asked for a change of the 2024 supplemental budget, which had already been made by Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the state’s immediate former governor.
The governor’s request was then forwarded to the House Standing Committee on Appropriations by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
The committee was given a week by the speaker to present its report to the House for approval and discussion.
Concurrently, the assembly affirmed Hon. Samson Osagie’s appointment as Edo State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
However, the House postponed its review of Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, the other nominee, until Monday, November 18, 2024.
