Troops of Operation MESA have rescued two women who were abducted from a residence behind NASEME in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
A security source revealed that the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on March 27, when troops of the 195 Battalion (Rear), working alongside personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilantes, acted on a distress call.
The source explained that the joint security team pursued the kidnappers into the bush along their escape route.
“The criminals, on sighting the advancing troops, abandoned the victims and fled,” the source said.
He added that the victims were rescued unharmed and later reunited with their families.
According to the source, follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network operating in the area.
