The Edo State House of Assembly has not resumed its session this year due to suspected stray gunfire. It was discovered that the Assembly’s roof and the Majority Leader’s seat, held by Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan, were ripped apart by bullets and gunshot holes. Journalists were informed by Hon. Aigbokhan that the security agency was looking into the event.

According to him, the start of sitting has been put off indefinitely.

“We were ready to sit today, and our attention was called to the fact that there was an incident here. I have reported to the Commissioner of Police and the DSS, and we have left everything to them to investigate and give us a complete report as to what gave rise to what we are talking about.”

“For now, everything is fine, and we are eager and ready start our sitting today, but unfortunately, because of the incident, we might not be able to meet today, because we want to give the chambers to security agents to comb it properly and for them to give a report that will be satisfying to everybody.”

“However, be assured that everything is calm in the house, and we will not be distracted. We will certainly come back to do our normal routine sitting.”

As part of continuing investigations, armed police officers were observed sweeping the Assembly complex at the time this report was filed.
