The Edo State Police Command has confirmed an incident of malicious damage and thuggery at the African Democratic Party (ADC) State Secretariat in Benin City.
The incident occurred at about 8:55 p.m. following a distress call received at the Police Control Room in Benin, reporting that suspected hoodlums had invaded the party’s secretariat and were vandalising property within the premises.
Police operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene to restore normalcy. A preliminary assessment revealed that party flags were damaged and two windows at the secretariat were shattered.
Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the act.
The Command commended the prompt report made to the Control Room, noting that the timely intervention helped prevent further damage. Members of the public were encouraged to report distress situations through the Command’s dedicated emergency lines.
The Police also warned miscreants against engaging in such criminal acts, stressing that anyone found culpable would be made to face the full weight of the law.
