Monday Okpebholo will on Thursday formally distribute 54 units of construction equipment to the 18 Local Government Councils in Edo State.
The presentation ceremony, scheduled to hold in Benin City, was disclosed in a press statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele. The initiative, according to the statement, reflects the administration’s commitment to practical governance, infrastructure renewal, and the strengthening of local government administration.
He said, “Governor Monday Okpebholo is to formally present 54 units of construction equipment to the 18 Local Government Councils across the state.”
“By placing critical tools directly in the hands of local councils, the government aims to fast-track development at the grassroots and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks.”
“The initiative is a strategic intervention designed to empower council leadership, stimulate economic activity in rural communities, and deliver tangible dividends of democracy across Edo’s three senatorial districts.”
Ebojele further stated that the commissioning would be performed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and would attract top government officials, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
Since assuming office, Governor Okpebholo has prioritised road rehabilitation and construction, as well as the development of flyovers across the state, a move that has eased inter-local government movement for residents.
