Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has voiced his delight with the speed and calibre of work on the ongoing Ikpoba Hill overpass at Ramat Park and the nearby erosion control project. The governor stopped at the project site on his way back from a three-day strategic leadership conference for political appointees in Udomi-Uwessan, Irrua.

The visit was a component of his administration’s regular inspections of important infrastructure projects to guarantee on-time delivery and compliance with quality standards. Governor Okpebholo expressed his admiration for the amount of work made thus far while speaking from the top of the flypast during the inspection. He emphasised that the purpose of the visit was to motivate contractors to maintain the momentum.

“It’s our normal routine check, just to see what they are doing, and for them to know that we are serious and that they must also buckle up to ensure this job is completed with the speed it requires,” the governor stated.

He noted that the project was getting close to completion and praised the contractors for the evident work on the ground.

He claimed that backfilling had already begun, which was a certain sign that the flyover was far along.

“They are doing a good job. You can see they have started backfilling, and by the time they cast this part, the job will already be at the point of completion,” he added.

Mr. Lee, Project Manager of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the construction company, gave Governor Okpebholo a tour of the site. Market operations were momentarily suspended in celebration of the governor’s visit, which excited local residents and traders. Residents and traders could be seen applauding and thanking the project.

The flypast has given the neighbourhood new optimism, according to a happy trader. “I am so excited about what I am seeing today. This flyover bridge is giving us joy, and when we saw the governor on top of the bridge inspecting the work, we prayed that God would bless him. “He is a good man,” she remarked.

The Okpebholo administration’s larger commitment to enhancing infrastructure, reducing traffic, and tackling environmental issues around Benin City includes the Ikpoba Hill flyover and erosion control projects.
