A group, Edo for Good Movement Worldwide, has raised concerns over what it described as ongoing political imbalance in Edo South, cautioning that the situation is reinforcing a growing narrative of disunity within the district.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Liberation Agobemenbhemindon, the group decried what it sees as a mismatch between Edo South’s strong voter base and its level of representation in key leadership positions at both state and federal levels.

The group said this gap between electoral contribution and political influence has created a perception of imbalance, which many now interpret as a sign of internal weakness.

“The situation has given rise to a damaging narrative that Edo South lacks cohesion,” Agobemenbhemindon stated, noting that labels such as “Uma-Igbanedo” reflect a growing perception of division among the people.

He warned that such perceptions, whether accurate or not, could erode the district’s political relevance if not urgently addressed.

“A politically fragmented people risk being sidelined in governance. The imbalance we see today is not just structural – it is also psychological, as it reinforces the idea of disunity,” he said.

The group maintained that the issue is not due to a lack of competent leaders but rather the absence of a central unifying force to align interests and promote a shared agenda.

It added that without a coordinated front, Edo South may continue to face challenges in translating its population strength into meaningful political influence.

As part of its recommendations, the movement called on stakeholders to adopt collective strategies and stronger alignment to counter the current narrative.

The group also endorsed Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the Edo South Senatorial seat, describing him as a candidate capable of uniting the district and restoring a shared sense of direction.
