Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has discontinued the free bus service system in the state.
Earlier on Wednesday, the governor gave his approval for the Edo City Transport Service to provide free bus services to state residents.
The program was characterized as a component of the administration’s endeavor to solidify its policy direction in a news release issued by Fred Itua, Okpebholo’s Chief news Secretary.
According to the governor, the free bus service was meant to improve the welfare of Edo people and would serve the Benin metropolitan as well as the three senatorial districts of the state (including intra- and inter-city routes).
On the other hand, Itua indicated in a later statement on Wednesday night that the previous declaration about the approval of the free bus services should be ignored.
