Monday OkpebholoGov. Okpebholo dismisses Attorney General Samson Osagie, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, has been removed from his cabinet by Attorney General Governor Okpebholo. One of the first commissioners to be sworn in by the governor was Osagie. The appointment of Prof. Roland Otaru as a new commissioner came after the removal. Additionally, Okpebholo expanded the number of ministries to 28, stating that this was necessary to conform to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The decision by Okpebholo to require his recently appointed commissioners to attend all Executive Council (Exco) sessions wearing a “Asiwaju” cap bearing President Bola Tinubu’s symbol has received criticism. In the event that a commissioner does not comply, the governor threatened to remove them from the sessions. On October 14, Okpebholo said Tinubu was essential to his win in the 2024 election when he inaugurated the commissioners. Social media users have criticized the directive as an overt show of political loyalty.
