Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested Michael Ogungbemi over the alleged abuse of his underage stepdaughter and her friend in Edo State.

The incident reportedly occurred in Ogbegun community, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.

According to reports, the suspect is accused of repeatedly abusing his 13-year-old stepdaughter over a period of time, allegedly using threats to prevent her from speaking out.

It was further alleged that he later persuaded the girl to invite her friend, a Junior Secondary School student, to the house, where he also carried out similar acts.

The case came to light after the second victim fell ill at school. A teacher noticed her condition and alerted her parents, who took her for medical attention. During examination, it was discovered that the girl had an infection, prompting further inquiry.

Under questioning, the minor reportedly disclosed the alleged abuse involving both herself and the suspect’s stepdaughter. The matter was subsequently reported to the authorities, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

The stepdaughter also recounted that the suspect would take advantage of her mother’s absence to carry out the acts and would sometimes send younger children out of the house before approaching her.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, said the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off and has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

He added that the suspect admitted to the allegations during interrogation.
