The Edo National Association Worldwide has announced plans to complete renal dialysis centres in Ekpoma and Okpella to improve access to specialised healthcare services in the state.

The dialysis facility in Benin City, located in Edo South Senatorial District, has already been completed and inaugurated for public use.

The Global President of the association, Bose Oviasu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday while marking the 2026 International Women’s Day.

Oviasu paid tribute to Nigerian women for their resilience, leadership qualities, and contributions to nation-building, noting that the celebration highlights the role of women in advancing social, economic, cultural, and political development globally.

She also commended members of the association and development partners for their continued support toward the realisation of the dialysis projects.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I wish to state that the renal dialysis centre in Okpella, Edo North, has been completed.

“The one in Ekpoma, Edo Central Senatorial District, is still under construction, and both facilities will be operational later this year.

“Already, the centre in Benin has been completed and is in use by members of the public,” she said.

Oviasu reiterated her commitment to promoting the welfare of members, strengthening unity among Edo indigenes, preserving the cultural heritage of the state, and attracting development projects that will benefit communities.

She further noted that Nigerian women have historically played key roles in promoting social justice, advocating for women’s rights, and contributing to national development both before and after the country’s independence.

According to her, International Women’s Day also highlights the need to dismantle religious and cultural barriers, discriminatory laws, and social norms that hinder gender equality and limit the rights and dignity of women.

Reflecting on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Give to Gain,” Oviasu said the philosophy underscores the importance of collective support and generosity in achieving social progress.

“When we give, we gain together. Let’s help forge gender equality through abundant giving, which informed the collective decision of Edo National Association Worldwide to establish the Renal Dialysis and Diagnostic Centre in Benin City to reduce the cost of dialysis services and mitigate the ailment,” she said.
