The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday acknowledged a letter from Governor Monday Okpebholo seeking the screening and confirmation of Engr. Onobayo Osekheumho as Executive Director (Projects) of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission.
The correspondence, dated March 17, was read during plenary by the Speaker, Mr. Blessing Agbebaku.
In a separate development, the House postponed its earlier invitation to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), directing the firm to appear before lawmakers on April 13, 2026.
Agbebaku explained that the decision to summon the electricity company was prompted by ongoing power outages across the state, despite what he described as high charges imposed on consumers for inadequate service delivery.
He noted that the engagement with BEDC’s management would allow lawmakers to address the situation and explore solutions to the persistent electricity supply challenges.
During the session, the Assembly also deliberated on and approved several bills and petitions.
Among them was a bill amending the Edo State Lottery Law to provide for the creation of the Edo State Lottery Regulatory Commission and the Edo Lottery Trust Fund, 2025, along with other related provisions.
