Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State have re-elected the Jarret Tenebe-led State Executive Committee for a second term, with the renewed leadership immediately endorsing key party figures for future elections.

The state congress, held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, saw delegates from the 192 wards return the executive members unopposed through a voice vote. The exercise was conducted by Hon. Kabiru Ajana, Chairman of the National State Congress Committee for Edo State, in what observers described as a peaceful atmosphere.

Speaking after the affirmation, State Chairman Jarret Tenebe, on behalf of the executive, endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Monday Okpebholo for second terms, citing what he described as their strong performance in office.

He also announced the endorsement of Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State governor and current senator representing Edo North, for another term in the Senate, praising his representation.

Tenebe described the unanimous affirmation as a renewed mandate to serve and pledged that the executive would continue to prioritize the interests of Edo people while supporting the governor’s developmental agenda.

Reflecting on his political journey, Tenebe recalled serving as Deputy State Chairman during a turbulent period in the party’s history in the state, noting that the loyalty of party members helped sustain unity. He acknowledged that some decisions taken in the course of strengthening the party may have caused disagreements and offered apologies to anyone who felt offended, emphasizing reconciliation and inclusiveness moving forward.

He also referenced his involvement during the build-up to the 2024 governorship election, describing it as a defining moment marked by differing interests but driven by the collective goal of party success.

Tenebe characterized the re-election as the start of a new chapter for the party in the state and stressed the need for unity, cohesion and inclusivity.

In his remarks, Oshiomhole thanked delegates for what he called a seamless exercise, describing it as a reflection of party unity and commending the governor’s leadership.

Dignitaries present at the congress included Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Regional Development; Dennis Idahosa, Deputy Governor of Edo State; and Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the Edo State Government, alongside other party leaders and members.
