The Edo State Health Care Regulation and Monitoring Agency Bill (EDOHERMA) was passed thanks to an inclusive process, for which the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Edo State Branch, is grateful. The NMA claims that by regulating, overseeing, and enforcing standards across all private healthcare facilities in the state, the historic legislation will transform the state’s healthcare system and improve access to healthcare for all Edo citizens. In a signed statement provided to reporters in Benin, Dr. Eustace Oseghale, Chairman, NMA, Edo State Branch, revealed this.

The Edo State Health Care Regulation and Monitoring Agency Bill (EDOHERMA) was passed thanks in large part to the efforts of important individuals, which the association acknowledged.

“We commend His Excellency Monday Okpebholo for prioritising health, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, and pioneer Director General, Dr. Adesuwa Uroghide, for their efforts in improving private practice.

“We appreciate the Speaker and Edo State House of Assembly, especially Dr. Richard Edosa, for engaging stakeholders. We also thank the Association of Nigeria Private Medical Practitioners, led by Dr. Godfrey Imuetiyan for their collaboration.

“The Edo health system and patients in Edo State are the winners, deserving the best healthcare,” Oseghale said.
