The Edo State Government has expressed its commitment to training youngsters with the latest digital and technology skills to remain relevant in the digitally expanding world.

Additionally, the government stated that it is prepared to assist young people who are interested in technology but lack the means to launch a business in this field.

This was revealed in Benin during the launch of a six-month Advanced Job-Ready Tech Skills Training program run by the Edo State Government in association with Google and DeepTech Ready, according to State Commissioner for Education Dr. Paddy Iyamu.

The commissioner, who said no fewer than 800 youths, most of whom are students, will be trained in digital skills in the next six months, noted: “We are encouraging our students to join so that they can take the opportunity.

The commissioner stated that within the next six months, at least 800 young people—the majority of whom are students—will receive training in digital skills.

“We are encouraging our students to join so that they can take the opportunity.

“We are going to be training about 800 of our students in tech skills so that we can give them the opportunity in the international space.”

Iyamu revealed that the state government will be launching a significant campaign to build Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers so that kids can be grouped together to learn and compete globally.
