Okpebholo commands police to put an end to cult killings within 48 hours

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, instructed the commissioner of police on Thursday to put an end to the state’s bloody cult conflicts.

In addition to outlawing drivers’ welfare associations and network empowerment in the state, Okpebholo issued the directive in a news release released by his Chief news Secretary (CPS), Mr. Fred Itua.

According to him, the State’s police commissioner ought to give orders to his officers and men in all formations to act right away and put an end to the needless carnage that is currently tearing through Benin. Governor Okpebholo has odrivers, as you may remember. ordered on Wednesday that all revenue collection in Edo, particularly at automobile parks and other locations, be suspended immediately and indefinitely until further notice.

He promised to review the collections-related issues shortly and make a decision.

“Cultism cannot be tolerated here, as I am the governor of Edo State. We have to stop it, and quickly.

“We cannot permit the operation of certain associations that are causing problems in the State, particularly in Benin City.

“They are all still prohibited, and the police commissioner needs to make sure that his officers follow this directive by making this prohibition enforceable.”

“Edo needs to be secure. During the campaigns, that was one of my top concerns, and I intend to do all in my power to restore it.

According to the statement, “We will not fold our arms and allow them to create unnecessary tension.”
