Oigiagbe is appointed as the body’s 23rd chairman and serves a one-year term, with the option to run for reelection at the conclusion of her term.

“I can disclose to you that the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Benin branch, has elected its first female chairman, Tina Oigiagbe, to preside over the affairs of the body for an initial one-year tenure,” stated Evans Edionwe, Edo NSE Publicity Secretary.

The appointment of the new chairman is significant since he has the ability to advance the branch. Additionally, on October 26, she was sworn in as the branch’s 23rd chairperson.

Prof. Sunday Onohaebi, a former rector of the National Institute of Construction Technology and Management, Uromi Edo State, gave a speech at the event, which was well attended by members of the engineering community and the general public and had as its theme ‘The Impact of Engineering on Economic Growth and Development in Nigeria.’

In her remarks, Oigiagbe thanked the branch’s leadership and departing chairman, Evukowhiroro Ojegba, for their steadfast commitment to furthering the NSE.

As her administration aims for greater accomplishments, she said their legacies would continue to guide her.

“As we embark on this new chapter, our vision remains resolute; it is to elevate the Nigerian Society of Engineers as a symbol of innovation, professionalism, and national development,” she continued. “I commend my fellow engineers for their expertise, resilience, and unwavering pursuit of excellence.”

Ojegba urged the Benin engineering community to continue supporting the incoming administration and thanked them for the tremendous assistance given to his administration.

Ethan Osaze Uzamere, a former state commissioner for roads and bridges and chairman of the Inauguration Planning Committee, congratulated the NSE Benin branch on the happy and significant event.

The NSE’s president, Margaret Oguntala, greeted the new chairperson and her staff and encouraged them to keep up the good work. She was represented by Bemigho Ofoeyeno, the vice president of the NSE, South-South.
