Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has urged residents to sustain prayers and support for his administration to facilitate further infrastructural development across the state. The appeal was made during the 2026 Easter programme themed “The Risen Christ and the Risen Edo State,” held at the Government House Chapel in Benin City.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Women in Christ, Pastor Aburime-Walter Courage Iziegbe, Okpebholo linked the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to the all-round development being recorded in the state. She described the Easter message as one of restoration, hope, and faith, emphasizing that just as Christ rose from the dead, Edo State is experiencing a revival under the current administration.

“This is a message of wisdom and grace to Edo people. We should keep praying for the governor, his administration and uphold the state for God to take it to enviable heights,” she said, noting that sustained prayers would further encourage the governor to expand development efforts across sectors.

The Chaplain of the Government House Chapel and Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday Azekhumen, described the emergence of a “new Edo” under the governor’s leadership. According to him, Easter is not only a remembrance but also a revelation of the transformative power of God, and the SHINE agenda reflects resurrection principles—order replacing disorder, strength replacing weakness, and hope replacing uncertainty.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Communication Strategy and Media Projects, Hon. Godswill Inegbe, highlighted that the governor’s administration has, over the last 15 months, translated promises into tangible outcomes, citing ongoing infrastructural projects across all three senatorial districts, including the near-completion of the Ramat Park flyover, which he described as a legacy project.

Guest speaker, Apostle Favour Mopa-Awom, delivered a sermon titled “He Rose to Break Barriers That You Might Rise,” stressing that Christ’s resurrection assures restoration and triumph over life’s obstacles.

During the event, Governor Okpebholo also commissioned the reconstructed and renovated Auchi College, Auchi, urging stronger collaboration between government, corporate organizations, and individuals to drive sustainable development. He noted that government alone cannot shoulder all responsibilities and emphasized collective commitment to the common good.

“What we are witnessing today is more than the rebuilding of structures; it is the restoration of hope, the revival of legacy and a bold investment in the future of our children,” he said. The governor praised the efforts of philanthropist Peter Omoh Dunia and the Association of Great Achievers, Class of 1991, describing the project as a symbol of unity, dedication, and love for the community.

Mr. Dunia said the project was his way of giving back to his alma mater, describing it as an act of remembrance, responsibility, and gratitude. “This school helped shape me. My prayer is that it will continue to stand as a place where knowledge is gained, character is built and dreams take shape,” he said, stressing that his intervention was meant to complement government efforts in strengthening the education sector.

Prince Omokhigho Momoh, President of the Association, said the project marked the first phase of a broader development plan. He listed completed initiatives, including a modern ICT/CBT centre, well-equipped science laboratories, a sports complex, solar-powered borehole, perimeter fencing, synthetic football field, and modern gatehouse, while calling for the deployment of qualified teachers and support for the second phase of development.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Adams Momoh, expressed appreciation, noting that the project represents a major investment in human capital. “This is not just about buildings; it is about creating an ecosystem where young minds are nurtured and future leaders are shaped,” she said.

The event featured musical ministrations by the Government House Choir and guest minister Cassidy Omoruyi Nelson. Prayers were offered for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, peace in Edo State, and divine guidance for the governor and his cabinet.
