Former Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, Fawaz Muhammad, has declared his intention to contest for the Etsako West Constituency seat in the Edo State House of Assembly under the African Democratic Congress.

In a statement issued in Benin City, Muhammad said his decision is driven by the need to address key challenges facing his constituency and provide effective representation.

He noted that his experience in the youth parliament has equipped him with a solid understanding of legislative procedures and responsibilities.

“Having presided over legislative proceedings at the youth parliament level, the business of lawmaking is not new to me. I understand the responsibility and am prepared to serve with competence and clarity,” he said.

Muhammad stressed the importance of giving residents of Etsako West Constituency I a stronger voice in governance, adding that their concerns have not always been adequately represented.

“I am stepping forward to give my people a voice—one that is strong, consistent, and truly reflective of their needs and aspirations,” Prince Muhammad stated.

He outlined his legislative priorities to include job creation, improved security, and better living conditions for constituents.

The aspirant also pledged to focus on youth development through policies that support skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and access to education.

“As a young leader, I understand the urgency of youth empowerment. I will champion policies that promote skills development, entrepreneurship, and access to education, including bursaries for students,” he added.

Muhammad emphasised that his ambition is rooted in service rather than personal gain.

“This is not about power or personal gain. It is about service. It is about giving back to the people and answering the call for responsible leadership,” he said.

He further called for the emergence of a new generation of leaders committed to integrity and purposeful governance.

“This is a moment for my generation to step forward—with character, with capacity, and with a genuine commitment to the people.”
