Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has praised members of the Edo State House of Assembly for sustaining a cordial and productive relationship with the executive arm of government.
The governor gave the commendation while hosting lawmakers, led by the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, during an Easter visit to his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, Okpebholo said the collaboration between both arms of government has played a key role in the progress recorded since he assumed office in November 2024.
“I am very happy since I assumed office; you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its set goals and implement policies that have moved the state forward,” the governor said.
He noted that the synergy between the executive and legislature has contributed significantly to advancements, particularly in infrastructure development.
“The harmonious working relationship shared between the Executive and Legislature is largely responsible for the success recorded by my administration in the past one year,” he stated.
Earlier, Agbebaku reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to backing government policies and programmes, stressing that lawmakers would continue to approve budgets aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
“Today we are here to celebrate Easter with you and to let you know that you are doing great work for Edo people. We promise to support you as a House,” he said.
The Speaker also praised ongoing infrastructural efforts, including the construction of what he described as the state’s first flyover.
“It will be indelible in history that the first flyover in Edo is being constructed by your administration,” he added.
Agbebaku further assured that the Assembly would maintain close cooperation with the executive to ensure the effective implementation of government initiatives.
In response, the governor urged lawmakers to remain united, emphasising that sustained peace and cooperation are essential for delivering more developmental gains across the state.
