The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has successfully conducted its local government primaries to elect candidates across the 18 councils, with the exercise widely regarded as peaceful, transparent, and credible.
Chairman of the electoral committee, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, who supervised the exercise, stated that the primaries were carried out using the direct voting method across the state’s 192 political wards.
He explained that in several instances, incumbent acting council chairmen secured the party’s tickets, emerging as candidates for the upcoming local government elections.
According to the officially released results, Hon. Osaro Eribo scored 4,349 votes to emerge as the APC candidate for Egor Local Government Area, while Hon. Gabriel Eduseri polled 5,933 votes to clinch the ticket in Oredo LGA.
In Owan West LGA, Enahoro Aikpokpo secured 1,664 votes, while Hon. Austin Imafidon polled 2,426 votes to win the party’s nomination.
Commending the conduct of the exercise, Bello expressed gratitude to the party leadership in the state and Governor Monday Okpebholo for what he described as purposeful leadership.
