Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has called for unity, hope, and renewed faith among Christians in Edo State and across Nigeria as they commemorate Easter, which signifies the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In his Easter message on Saturday, the governor described the season as a solemn and significant period that reflects the values of sacrifice, love, hope, and redemption. He encouraged Christians to take time to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life was marked by humility, selflessness, and unwavering faith.

Okpebholo noted that Easter represents the victory of light over darkness and life over death, urging citizens to remain optimistic and steadfast despite current challenges.

He also appealed to residents of Edo State to promote unity, peace, and mutual respect, regardless of religious or ethnic differences. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring effective governance, boosting economic development, and enhancing the overall welfare of the people.

He stressed that collective responsibility and cooperation among citizens are vital to achieving a prosperous and secure Edo State.

He said, “I am using the Easter celebration to call for unity, hope and renewed faith among Christians in Edo State and Nigeria.

“Let this Easter season inspire us to renew our faith in God and in one another, as we work together towards a better future for our dear state.”

Okpebholo further urged citizens to use the festive period to pray for lasting peace, progress, and development in Edo State and Nigeria, particularly as the 2027 elections approach.

He wished all Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
