The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State on Friday conducted its primary election ahead of the July 11 local government polls, producing candidates for the state’s 18 local government areas.

Sixteen of the 18 acting council chairmen secured the party’s tickets through the indirect primary process, while the acting chairmen of Ovia North East and Ovia South West were unable to emerge as candidates.

The exercise was reported to have been conducted peacefully across all local government areas.

Among those returned as candidates are Osaro Eribo (Egor), Eriamatoe Christopher (Ovia North East), Johnson Osagie (Orhionmwon), Gabriel Iduseri (Oredo), Aikpokpo Enahoro (Owan West), and Lawson Imafidon (Uhunmwode).

The Chairman of the APC Local Government Primary Election Committee, Abdullahi Bello, commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for what he described as his commitment to democratic values.

Bello noted that the smooth conduct of the primaries reflects the leadership approach in the state and highlights the party’s unity as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
