Residents Cheer as Okpebholo Inspects Ongoing Road Project in Benin

Residents of Charismatic Church Road, located off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City, expressed excitement as Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, visited the area to assess the progress of the ongoing road construction.

The 1.4-kilometre project, being executed by Place of Peace Investment Limited, has raised optimism among residents and business owners who have endured years of difficulty due to the road’s previously poor condition.

Many residents turned out in large numbers to welcome the governor, applauding the visible progress and expressing appreciation for what they described as a long-overdue intervention.

One of the residents, Blessing Patrick, said the road had been abandoned for years, making movement almost impossible.

She said, “For many years, we no dey pass this road. We thank Okpebholo for this work,”

She added emotionally, “How many years we no fit dey pass am. E no good, e condemned. My Daddy, the Governor of Edo State, come do am. Na God go bless my Daddy.”

Another resident, Osarunwense Igbinovia, who sells at a nearby junction, spoke about the risks previously linked to the road, including erosion and criminal activities.

She said, “I dey sell for junction. This road has been very bad. I witnessed when erosion entered one upstairs. Thieves were operating around here. But now, the road has turned to good. God go bless our governor,”

The reconstruction of Charismatic Church Road is expected to improve access, support business activities, and enhance safety in the area, bringing long-awaited relief to residents.
